1/20/11 - Congrats to all the boys that made the honor roll on last week's report card. Keep on working hard fellas!!!!! Tomorrow another day at the office boys, let's get in there and get the work done. We need a business mentality for the entire day, which includes a good day at school and solid performance on the court. Kettering would love to trip you up tomorrow, so just like when you walking or driving you look ahead and see an obstacle. You make a smart choice to see that the obstacle doesnt harm you. We have to convert layups, make free throws, off/def rebound and take care of the ball and you avoid the obstacle. Good nights rest to all!!!!!!!!

Denby did a great job of beating us to the punch on all necessary occasions and they deserved to win. The JV lost to Denby 75-63. Albert McGlockton scored 33 pts.
1/28/11 - Today is yet another big game fellas!!!!!!!!! Osborn has played everybody tough this year. We don't expect them to play us any different. You guys had a solid two days of practice since the Denby loss. A much better commitment was given on the blocking out and rebounding, so we are excited to see the fruits of the labor today. See you in a minute!!!!!!!!!!
1/30/11 - Highlights are available from the Harrison, Bridgeman and Kettering games ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2/1/11 - Today marks the ending of some careers @ Frederick Douglass. Kendall Johnson and Dennis Hogan will end their four year player profiles with today's regular season finale. These two studs have seen it all the way through from day one. All the practices, hardwork, summers, springs, winters, falls, long talks by Coach Young ("this is the last thing I'm going to say before I let you go"), cross-country small shorts, hurtful losses, crying, laughing, ups and downs and whatever else you want to add. These have been true soldiers to the battles we have fought. Mark Anthony Buright and Trent Braggs have joined us along the way and have added tremendous punch to our arsenal of weapons. Mark joined us last year and has been a stalwart in our progress as a developing top program in the city and state. He spearheaded the run in the state tournament last year and has been very thorough this year. Trent came to us via football ( a walking terror by the way!!!!!)but, has offered a special toughness that only he can bring to the table. Devaughn Pettway is an added addition from Finney High School, who has given much needed outside punch. We wish these guys continued success and blessings from up on high! Now back to the regularly scheduled programming, we have Central at home with yet another chance to work it out and move on a little further down the journey. Second place on the east side is pretty much ours to cherish, but we still have work to finish up. As always let's fight to the end and never give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our seniors truly led the way on Senior Night. Central was led by Davon Parmer with 19 pts. Douglass sealed second place in the East division with the victory. Douglass will open up the PSL playoffs next Tuesday @ home in the Second round. A perfect chance to get some rest and heal up some bones. Douglass finishes the regular season with a 13-2 record Overall and 8-2 Conference record. Enjoy a few days off fellas, because now the big bucks go on the table from here on out.
2/4/11 - Well here we go again folks!!! The PSL Playoffs have arrived and are upon us. This is a special time of year because 10-0, 5-5 or 1-9 doesn't mean anything. Everybody goes back to 0-0. These are the days that dreams are made of and it seems as if this time of year strange things start happening. Defenses get tougher, offenses run out of gas, mysterious shots all of a sudden start falling, unsung heroes take center stage, David says" wait a minute" to Goliath and lastly before you know it YOU A DOG FIGHT ON YOUR HANDS!!!!!!!. In the words of our favorite channel TNT, " ITS WIN OR GET YOUR STUFF AND GO HOME". Frederick Douglass opens up the 2011 PSL Playoffs on Tuesday vs. Pershing (2009 and 2010 City Champs). The game will be played @ Frederick Douglass High School. This will be a zoo on Tuesday, so please plan to attend early to get a seat. Douglass defeated Pershing 59-57 earlier this season and payback will be in the air on Tuesday.

2/9/11 - One man down and two more to go in the pathway to the PSL City Championship. Pershing gracefully bowed out of the running as they were trying to three peat. 2/12/11 - Douglass was defeated last night by King 58-50 in the semi-finals of the PSL Playoffs. King earned the victory by winning all the necessary categories on the floor to win a big game. Dennis Northfleet was a one man bulldozer on the floor and led his team to victory. Douglass appeared flat and out of sync from the start. They lacked energy and drive considering the importance of the game. Mark Anthony Buright scored 17 pts for Douglass. Trent Braggs scored 9 pts and pulled down 15 rebs.
